Rupa Huq MP Member of Parliament for Ealing Central & Acton
Yesterday I spoke in the #EnvironmentBill debate. I voted for amendments to add protections to the Environment Bill, including:
Legally binding air quality standards.
Tackling biodiversity loss.
Parliamentary scrutiny of Government plans to allow harmful pesticides.
The Tories rejected them all. To make matters worse, the Bill has been postponed yet again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55799191.
This was supposed to be sorted before Brexit — now we’re told it won’t be completed till much later this year. The Government needs to understand the urgency of the climate emergency we are facing. We don’t have a second to waste.
