Yesterday I spoke in the #EnvironmentBill debate. I voted for amendments to add protections to the Environment Bill, including:
🌍 Legally binding air quality standards.
🌻 Tackling biodiversity loss.
🐝 Parliamentary scrutiny of Government plans to allow harmful pesticides.
The Tories rejected them all. To make matters worse, the Bill has been postponed yet again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55799191.
This was supposed to be sorted before Brexit — now we’re told it won’t be completed till much later this year. The Government needs to understand the urgency of the climate emergency we are facing. We don’t have a second to waste.
