Rupa Huq MP to Policing Minister: Back our cross-party amendment to support vulnerable women

Today I have tabled an amendment to the Government’s Policing Bill to ensure that women and girls accessing abortion services are protected from harassment and intimidation outside clinics.
The amendment — titled New Clause 43 — has overwhelming cross-party support from MPs across all nations and regions of the UK. But when I asked the Policing Minister this afternoon if the Government would back it, he wouldn’t commit either way.
