With winter biting, and with countless energy companies going to the wall, many elderly people will struggle to pay off their heating bills this Christmas.
Age UK predict that rising energy bills will push a further 150,000 pensioners into fuel poverty this winter.
The Government needs to do more about this: it could start by cutting VAT on household heating bills over winter.
